@attiefreres was the first chocolate and nougat fa @attiefreres was the first chocolate and nougat factory to be established in Lebanon back in 1928. Located in Gemmayzeh (Beirut) very close to the port, it was completely destroyed by the Blast. One year and a half later, it is now fully operational. This was possible with the willingness of the Attieh family and with the support of the NGOs @baytna_baytak , @thehouseofchristmas and Mada association. Support included: complete rehabilitation of the space while preserving the architectural heritage, reparation and replacement of broken and stolen equipment, and support in marketing and business development. These activities were implemented by Mada in partnership with the @ccfd.tsolidaire and funded by the CDCS of the French ministry of foreign affairs. One year and a half after the Beirut Blast, the Ch One year and a half after the Beirut Blast, the Chidiac Wood Trade, a family business established in 1970 in Karantina (Beirut), is now fully operational. The case was referred to Mada by @intersos . With Mada’s support, the family was able to finalize the renovation works before the winter season, which was essential to protect the stock of wood from water leakage. This was possible due to the perseverance of the owner Fady Kassab on reopening and through the support from many private supporters and NGOs, including Mada association, @iecdlebanon, Semeurs d’Avenir and @thehouseofchristmas . Trainings continue with @Empower to provide youth with employment opportunities in a variety of sectors, among which Poultry and Agriculture, in Akkar, North-Lebanon and Mount-Lebanon. This project is implemented with support from UNICEF Lebanon and with funding from the governments of the Netherlands and Germany through the German Development Bank.
Following the Beirut explosion, Mada is supporting Following the Beirut explosion, Mada is supporting Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) impacted by the blast. This is essential to support the local economic fabric and to restore people’s jobs. Based on a damage assessment, we already identified and started rehabilitating 9 SMEs out of a total target of 55 SMEs. The majority of the damages identified are related to construction works ranging from façade works to internal electro-mechanical and finishing works. We are also replacing equipment and supplies destroyed by the blast. The shortlisted SMEs come from many sectors such as services, production, retail… From the start, we wanted to diversify the type of SMEs we are helping because we believe that they are all important for the development of a balanced economic ecosystem. *Scroll for English* بدأت مدى الآن دورات تدريبية جديدة في عكار لـ 142 مشاركًا شابًا في 5 مجالات: إدارة المعاملات الزراعية داخل بيوت محمية، مشاتل الخضار ، تصنيع الألبان والاجبان، سكانر السيارات والممارسات الزراعية لانشاء الحقول الصغيرة وتربية الدجاج. بالاضافة الى ذلك، يكمل الآن 40 متدربا فترة تدريبهم العملية (الستاج). بدعم من اليونيسف وبتمويل من ألمانيا من خلال بنك التنمية الألماني KFW، وحكومة هولندا، يتم تنفيذ البرنامج من قبل جمعية مدى بالتعاون مع جمعية أمباور.
