Territorial Approach

A Vision for North Lebanon

Over the past years, MADA has developed a "territorial approach", with a long-term focus on the Akkar, Hermel, and Donnieh regions of North Lebanon. MADA's work in this area has been inspired by a vision of establishing a future Natural Park.

MADA analyses and takes into consideration:

History Understanding the historical context of the region and its communities
Socio-economic Analyzing economic activities, livelihoods, and social dynamics
Environment Mapping and protecting natural assets and biodiversity
Stakeholders Engaging local citizens, NGOs, committees, authorities, and institutions

Target Regions

Where We Focus

Our territorial approach concentrates resources and expertise in three key regions of North Lebanon.

Akkar

One of the most rural and underserved regions of Lebanon, Akkar is a primary focus of MADA's development initiatives. Home to diverse communities with significant agricultural potential.

Hermel

Located in the northern Bekaa Valley, Hermel benefits from MADA's environmental and agricultural programs. A region with rich natural resources and strong community traditions.

Donnieh

A mountainous region with rich biodiversity, Donnieh is central to MADA's natural park vision. Its unique ecosystem makes it ideal for eco-tourism and conservation efforts.
